Make Your Own Makeup Brush Cleanser – Easy Complete Tutorial
Makeup brushes need to be cleaned without fail every 2 to 4 weeks to remove build-up of makeup products and to ensure that bacterial growth is regularly prevented.[1] This article will explain how to make inexpensive brush cleanser for regular use.
Things You Will Need
- Distilled or bottled water
- Alcohol
- Dishwashing soap
- Mild/baby shampoo
- Spray leave-in conditioner
- Mixing jug or pitcher
- Spray bottle
Get 250ml (8.5 fl oz) of distilled wateror bottled water. Pour it into a jug (or pitcher).
Get 50ml (1.6 fl oz) of alcohol and pour it into the same jug
Pour 1/2 a tablespoon of the mild shampoo or baby shampoo into the jug.
Put in 1 tablespoon of spray leave-in conditioner and pour it into the mixture.
Mix it all up. Use a chopstick or something similar to mix
Finally, pour the whole into a spray bottle and you’ve got a brush cleanser.
- To use the cleanser, simply spray onto the bristles of each makeup brush so as to dampen through with the cleanser. Rub gently to lather a little, then run under a cool to slightly warm water until the water runs clear. You may need to repeat adding the cleanser a few times, especially where the build-up of makeup gunk is chronic.
- To dry, run the bristles across a towel, then lay flat on the towel to dry by air. Don’t stand them up to dry.
Tips:
Remember to get 70% or 91% alcohol.
Use things you have got in your household, don’t go out and buy everything.
Warning:
Do not soak makeup brushes. This will weaken the glues holding in the bristles over time.
